Calling all bagel lovers… you must stop at ahuva bagel co. in Medford!  

If you just want a bagel and cream cheese they’ve got!  How about a breakfast bagel sandwich?  Or, feel like lunch?  They offer great bagel sandwiches, salads, and daily soup specials too!  Do you work in an office or have an up-coming meeting? No Ho’s is the best place to eat authentic Hawaiian dishes in Southern Oregon. The cafe is located at 330 East McAndrews, near the Rogue Valley Mall. The restaurant is always clean and the staff always friendly. Teriyaki chicken and sticky rice is my favorite dish, I always ask for it spicy!

Great portions at a great price! There isn’t a dish on the menu that isn’t fantastic! This is by far my favorite place to eat in Southern Oregon!

Gogi’s located in Historic Jacksonville, is one of the ULTIMATE dining experiences you will have in Southern Oregon!  Intimate restaurant with exceptional service, artistic cocktail menu, great wine selection, and the food is well…ambrosial- fit for the gods or Kings/Queens!  The Head Chef really understands how to harmonize and “pair” tastes and textures together for a well-prepared, imaginative, and delectable menu.

Me, being a planner, found it great to peak at their menu ahead of time -online of course- which left my mind and tastebuds desiring our anticipated “date night”.  Our date night at Gogi’s exceeded our expectations and made for an unforgettable dining experience!

We entered their neighborly atmosphere and enjoyed their professional, attentive and personable staff.  The food, well, you will just have to go there yourself, to appreciate all of the delectable flavors.  Our first course included the Roasted Garlic Appetizer with warm cambozola (cheese), roasted sweet peppers, and cured olives along with tuscan stye flatbread which was an amazing variety of flavors.  The Heirloom Salad, garden-fresh tomatoes and my favorite the balsamic gelee!  Usually, a salad like this, has the balsamic vinegar reduction drizzled over the tomatoes, but this appetizer had the balsamic reduction in a cubed gel form- unique!

For the second course, I tried the Butter Lettuce Salad which was a delightful combination of  avocados and plumped sultanas (raisins), tossed in a creamy lemon chèvre vinaigrette, which I couldn’t stop eating! For the third course (or the Main Entree), I had the Seared Scallops with parsnips and arugula topped with a moscato butter sauce.  I can’t recall when the last time my mouth enjoyed such amazing flavors; the texture of the seared scallops were perfect!  By the time our entrees were cleared, I was full but I had to complete the evening with dessert.  I chose  the vanilla creme brûlée, a favorite dessert of mine.

Tip: They offer Britt-nic-Baskets for those of you who want a hassle-free, and gourmet dinner to go.  Order ahead of time (before 2:00pm online from their website or call 541-899-8699) for your Britt Concert! $15 includes:Entree, drink, chips and dessert.  Beer/Wine available to go also.

Here’s my version… 2 foodie/gourmet chef friends from Napa Valley head up to Portland and Seattle to find their next perfect location for their high-end California Cuisine restaurant. Unfortunately they got stuck in Medford (of all places!) for whatever reason.  Ok…ok.. my version is obviously not true – but it seems more reasonable! This restaurant reminds me of my favorite California Cuisine restaurants you find in Bay Area (sans the attitude and price)

You can find 38 Central nestled on Central Avenue in downtown Medford across the Woolworth Building. Featuring a menu self-described as straightforward American cuisine with an emphasis on comfort food classics, you’ll find favorites like Mac n Cheese, Duck Quesadilla and Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Each menu selection features something special – like the Cream and Hardwood Smoked Bacon found in the Mac n Cheese or the Garlic Aoli and Fries that comes with the burger. Amazing food….

38 Central is the perfect place for a business lunch, a celebration, special dinner or a family night out. The menu is chef-driven, all made from scratch and sourced from local, sustainable farms. With excellent ingredients and attention paid to the seasons (yep, it changes!) the food is fresh and exciting.. not fussy or overwrought.

Tip: 38 Central features a small, but dynamic wine list and full service bar complete with a Premium Well (as defined by the Zagat/Drinkwell program) Make time to include a drink with your meal – our favorite is the Mojito!

 It’s a “cupcake subculture” in downtown Talent at “The Cupcake Daily.”  This is not your typical cupcake shop, it’s a Mother – Daughter Team of “Cake Foodies” who are sharing the love of cake and customization!

With daily themes, such as “Mocha Monday’s,” “Maple Bacon Thursdays,” and “Aloha Saturdays”  it’s easy to become a “Daily Regular” and get hooked on a favorite cupcake and /or ignite your creativity and customize your own cupcake!  I checked out their facebook page, for their daily selections, and couldn’t resist the temptation to check out “Cocktail Friday!”  Selections such as a strawberry lemonade cupcake and a pomegranate martini cupcake sent my mouth watering and I couldn’t resist the temptation any longer!

They are easily located on the corner of Main and Talent, in Talent, Or. (diagonally across the street from Camelot Theatre) and the casual atmosphere was a delight to many.   There were all types of people (business men and women, a Mom and her kids, high school kids, etc.) enjoying their “event” (cupcake). I decided to customize my own cupcake, and chose a gluten- free chocolate cake, filled it with chocolate ganache, then added their homemade cream cheese frosting, and topped it off with one of their most popular toppings, Heath Bar Crunch!  I definitely had an explosion in my mouth, as my tastebuds acted like fireworks reacting to the delicious flavors of my “event”! Delicious!

While there, I had a chance chat with Deanna, one of the Owner’s about their business.  Owners Deanna and Gretchen (Mother and Daughter)  the “Cake Foodies” listen to their customers and not only offer daily, made-from- scratch cupcakes with the best possible ingredients (organic, natural, unbleached flour and sugar, agave nectar instead of sugar etc. ) but, also offer vegan, gluten free, and diabetic options!  Deanna says, “Our business is about people, a celebration of passion and uniqueness, and sharing with the community.”   The Cupcake Daily selects on a monthly basis, a Non-Profit Charity to donate 100% of their “tip money” to, which is a unique way of giving back to the community!  Last month it was to the So. Oregon Human Society, this month all tips go to CASA of Jackson County.

As their website states, “You do not have to have “junk food” to feed your sweet tooth. Life is short, eat good!”

Schmidt Family Vineyards is owned by Judy and Cal Schmidt. In 2000 the old Bennett Ranch on the fertile Kubli Bench was purchased and became the setting for what is now the Schmidt Family Vineyards.

Along with the fertile vineyards, and a large picturesque pond, several acres of herb and flower gardens have been created which are available for private events.
