Tub Springs Letterbox – 541Live Challenge

letterbox_541live

Boy do we have an adventure for you! We hid a letterbox … and it’s waiting for you to find it!

Here’s the deal: The 541Live Letterbox is hidden in Tub Springs Park.

In the spirit of 541Live’s support of local business – we included a prize for the 1st person to find it – 10 Beanery Bucks for you to enjoy a breakfast, coffee with friends or whatever you choose at The Beanery in Ashland!

Note to First Finder:  Your choice to take some of the found loot and leave some for the next adventurer, or not.

Clues to the 541Live Letterbox:

You must find the original Tub Springs letterbox – Starlight, Star Bright that was placed in August of 2009.

From the Starlight, Star Bright letterbox:

Walk 23 steps back to the main trail marker “loop trail”

Turn left on the main trail (headed back towards the springs)

Take 5 big steps forward

Take another 4 medium steps forward

Take 1 small step to the right

Look for something short and stumpy.

Treasure is covered well inside the short stumpy object.

Three things:

1) Take a picture of your adventure team (preferably there, with the treasure) and send it to us. We will post your pictures here for all to enjoy!

2) If you are the 1st to find it – enjoy! If you’re not the first, sign your name, still send us a picture and tell us where we the next one should be!

3) Before heading out – please read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer. Please be sure to reseal carefully so everything will stay dry. Re-hide boxes in their original location, completely hidden from view.

Tips:

Bring a water jug to fill – the springs are flowing (fast!) with ice cold, clean water – straight from the source.

Stop for lunch: Pack a lunch, the picnic tables are among the giant trees and provide a beautiful place to rest, eat and enjoy. The Green Springs Inn serves fresh, comfortable food.. with easy to handle prices.

UPDATE!

Day 1 – the 541Live letterbox was found! Drew Burchette of Medford (@dash2 on twitter) went up to Tub Springs on Monday afternoon and found it! He reported in with a picture of the loot tube (see below) Here’s the great part – he took 8 of the 10 Beanery Bucks and left a gift certificate for Oregon Mountain Coffee Company! The adventure continues!

Late Monday – Alyssa Warner made the trek up to the springs with her 2nd grade son – looking for adventure for his class Scooby Doo. They found the Starlight, Star Bright letterbox, took their picture with it and left … wait for it…. Another gift card!

Southern Oregonians get the spirit of the game! We started off with a fun adventure and included a small prize, we know have 3 prizes up there (if you are keeping score – that’s 2 beanery bucks, 1 gift card to Oregon Mountain Coffee Company and one other surprise gift card)

After a few storms this week, my guess is the original letterbox and the 541live letttertube are covered with a bit of snow. But imagine how beautiful the springs are!

Here’s a video clue … let’s see who else can find it!
