Bear Creek Park contains almost 100 acres of pure enjoyment for the whole family, including four tennis courts with night lights and a large playground (what I used to refer to as the “Disneyland Park” in my childhood, because of the incredibly giant wooden play structure). Many barbecue and picnic areas are provided, and a covered pavilion is available for reservation, complete with a drinking fountain, barbecue grill, and electrical outlet.

During the summer months, the Bear Creek Performance Amphitheatre offers free movies and concerts. Last year, hundreds gathered to participate in activities such as face-painting and family-oriented games before settling down to watch films like “Madagascar 2”, “Grease”, and “Top Gun”.

Have wheels? Take a spin on the 24,000 square foot Bear Creek Skatepark with its various stairs, bowls, ramps, and arches, or check out the all-ages BMX Park. Keep a look out for weekly BMX races beginning in the Spring.

And don’t forget about the two-acre off-leash dog park. Bring your four-legged friend and enjoy a day romping about on the natural track. A covered picnic table and water are provided as well. The park is open from 6:00am to 10:30pm.

For extra adventure, bring your bicycle and traverse, or even walk, the paved 6-mile Bear Creek Greenway that extends from Phoenix all the way to Central Point. Water fountains and bathrooms are provided along the route.

Tip: The Bear Creek Greenway Bike Map is available for purchase at most local bike shops, the Country Roads Department at 200 Antelope Road in White City, and the Payment Center at the County Courthouse at 10 South Oakdale in Medford.

Don’t miss out! Bear Creek Park also hosts the Summer Time Movies in the Park.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY?

This is one of the best aspects of Medford. I remember spending so much time here when I was younger and still visit on occasion. I really like the way Krystal writes, she has a certain spunk about her.
