[UPDATE November 8, 2011] The rest of the media has finally caught up with us and is announcing what we have been reporting for months. Trader Joe’s is coming to the Northgate Shopping Center and will be opening July of 2012! Now while we wait on construction be sure to participate in the Trader Joe’s Challenge and win $100 of Trader Joe’s groceries delivered to your door from 541Live!
The rumors are swirling around once again but this time it looks like they are closer to reality. The latest update we have is the future home of the Northgate Shopping Center will be home to Trader Joe’s! Personally we would like to see Trader Joe’s take home at the Medford Center next to Sears instead of building another strip mall. Trader Joe’s would help immensely in revitalizing the Medford Center as well as bring people closer to downtown.

[UPDATE 10/19/2011] Employee confirmation at several Trader Joe’s stores that there is an employee bulletin about the new Trader Joe’s opening in Medford! It is happening, we just have to be a little more patient for the build schedule! Medford and it’s environs, especially Ashland, are desperately craving a TRADER JOE’S. I personally think it is one of the Hippest food purveyors on the Planet! . . . Thank You Joe Coulombe!

Bring Trader Joes to Grants Pass!
I would love for the City Of Medford, Trader Joe’s, and REI to get smart! Here’s an idea! Why not use the cool and vacant large buildings downtown to be the future sites for Trader Joe’s and REI! In particular, the huge, vacant building on Main Street that is right next to the 3 story parking garage!! It would help revitalize downtown, and bring more people down to create some energy and “buzz”. Please not another stupid strip mall that had no areas for congregating and is nothing but concrete! Please take some planning ideas from the Old Mill District in Bend, Or. or The Lakes in Thousand Oaks, Ca. Both developments have places to eat, coffee, shopping, grass to let your kids run around, swings, playground, and how about cool outdoor gas fire pits when it gets cold outside! It’s called a lifestyle center!! Get with the 21st century Medford!
No, no. The best thing to do would be build the new strip mall and bulldoze the old center with Sears. In Medford any business building older than 20 years is practically urban blight. Move the businesses to new grounds and redevelop the old. Why keep ugly?
We would love to have a Trader Joe’s here in the Medford/Talent area. There is a perfect place in Talent nest to where the WalMart now stands, (and may soon be leaving). Having the Trader Joe’s there would make it accessible to both Medford and Ashland.
I like the idea of having a brand new shopping area. The Medford Center is too old and parking stinks. Downtown is a joke!! Hopefully this location will inspire other businesses to locate in our area. We are in dire need of some new business here. I would love to encourage any new shopping or eating establishments to revitalize our economy. I do like the idea of turning Northgate into something similiar to the Old Mill District in Bend, OR.

Trader Joe’s in Medford will be opening sometime in October, while REI in the same plaza will be opening sometime in September.
We’re moving to Ashland. Is there a Trader Joe’s there or not? If not yet, where’s the nearest one. We’re coming from North Dakota so we’ll stop and stock up if there’s not one in Medford or Ashland yet. Anybody know? Thanks
They who ever they are never considered the the vacant electronics store next to Sears for the new location of trader joes. Thats not how the good old boys do it in Medford. Boston market, kenny rogers roaster,memory fails me on how many nation wide busineses open and fail right here in Medford.
Trader Joe’s is opening in Medford this Fall… closest one until then, is somewhere in Portland, I think.
Wow…. Amazing how many different comments there can be….. The area needs a Trader Joe’s. It’s obvious that we are all awaiting the doors to open. I believe out with the old & in w/ the new. Just like everything else. Why so much negativity? We all love the Southern Oregon climate. We need businesses to grow & thrive. Who really cares where it’s at as long as we have one. As for the strip malls? Who doesn’t like to check out & shop and new newest & hippest places?
Anybody hear anymore buzz about 5 GUYS BURGERS N FRIES coming? I thought they were going in the new Northgate shopping center. Did they change their mind?
