Northwest Outdoor Store

Scott Keith, owner of Northwest Outdoor Store is no stranger to the outdoors. He was a former rock and mountain climbing guide for Mt. Shasta and was also manager of McKenzie Outfitters. His current endeavor is the store I recently visited, Northwest Outdoor Store which is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. The stores planning started two years ago and after the recent closure of Joe’s, another outdoor store, he decided it was time to open his own. The store officially opened a month ago, and has been doing very well ever since.

When you enter the store you see a treasure trove of outdoor essentials. Clothing brands such as Mountain Hardwear, Marmot and many more can be found here along with dressing rooms where you can try on the items before you fall in love with them. Kayaks both single and tandem catch your eye immediately. Towards the back of the store is the shoe department, which is home to the brand Chaco River which is one of the only river shoes with a replaceable sole. The next section was backpacking gear and one brand in particular has a family friendly version for this often solo activity. Kelty is one of the top brands in backpacking and they include Kelty kids in their line of products. They use the same technology for these kid friendly versions which have a carrier for your child which can ensure that the little ones wont’ be left out of the excitement.

Another product that was quite intriguing was the Britt chair, which is aptly named for the simple fact that it is the only chair that the Britt festivals will allow into the concerts. These chairs are within 4 inches off of the ground, yet still raised enough for comfort. Scott was sold out of these while I was in there but that didn’t stop customers from inquiring on when he would be getting more.
